Wildfire Smoke Information
Welcome
Denise Koch, Director
(907) 465-5105
The wildland fire season is here. Air Quality Advisories may be found under the "Quick Links" to the right. Daily Situation Reports may be found on the Alaska Interagency Coordination Center (AICC) website.
DEC advises people with respiratory illness or heart disease, the elderly and children, to avoid exposure to smoke. When in areas of smoke, avoid outdoor activities or physical exertion.
A method to determine air quality without direct monitoring is to use a visibility range chart. The Fairbanks North Star Borough's Judging Particulate Levels in Your Area Due to Smoke will help you take responsibility for your own health and safety.
