Does EIA have data on the costs for electricity transmission and distribution?
The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) publishes estimates for the average annual prices of U.S. electricity generation, transmission, and distribution for two base years and projections out to the year 2040 in the tables of the Annual Energy Outlook:
- Table 8. Electricity supply, disposition, prices, and emissions; see the section “Prices by service category” in the table
- Tables 55 to 57: Electric power projections for electricity market module regions; see the section “Prices by service category” in each table
EIA publishes data on the annual expenditures by U.S. electric utilities on electricity transmission and distribution in the Electric Power Annual, Table 8.3. Revenue and expense statistics for major U.S. investor-owned electric utilities.
EIA does not publish similar estimates for other countries. EIA does not publish specific data on the costs to build or operate electricity transmission lines and distribution networks.
