Mike Flynn

Mike Flynn serves as the Acting Deputy Administrator of EPA.  His responsibilities include overseeing agency-wide initiatives and coordinating important issues with EPA’s regional and program offices.  Mike has over 36 years of experience in multiple programs across EPA.  

 Previously, Mike was EPA's Associate Deputy Administrator, serving as key advisor to the Deputy Administrator on management and policy issues.  He was the Director of the Office of Radiation and Indoor Air in OAR for six years, where he expanded federal action to address health risks from radon exposure indoors, enhanced EPA’s preparedness for radiation emergencies and played a major role in the Agency’s response to the 2011 Japanese nuclear incident.  Mike also served in the Office of Environmental Information, first as the Director of the Office of Information Analysis and Access and later as the Acting Deputy Assistant Administrator of OEI. 

Mike began his EPA career in the Office of Land and Emergency Management, where he served in various leadership positions over nearly 20 years.  Mike has been a member of the Senior Executive Service since 2005.  He holds a B.S. degree from the University of Delaware in Agriculture and Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) degree from the University of North Carolina.
