William “Sandy” Schenck was awarded the Charles R. Sherman Award for outstanding service to the National Association of State Boards of Geology (ASBOG) at the November 2, 2016 ASBOG Annual Meeting. This award is ASBOG’s highest honor for outstanding service to the organization.

Charles R. Sherman, a member of the South Carolina Geology Board, was instrumental in the development of the National Association of State Boards of Geology (ASBOG®). He served as the interim and first President of ASBOG® from 1990 to 1991.

Sherman Award Recipients must have demonstrated meritorious service to ASBOG® in one or more of the following areas:

• Mentoring of Subject Matter Expert (SMEs) to the Council of Examiners (COE).

• Participation and exemplary leadership on ASBOG® Committees

• Exemplary service to the Council of Examiners (COE)

• Representation of ASBOG® at Affiliate Organization meetings and functions
