NNSA hosted the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) - a core partner of the agency’s global nonproliferation and counterterrorism efforts - to discuss cooperative efforts in emergency preparedness and response.  Early in their visit, IAEA Deputy Director General Juan Carlos Lentijo, IAEA Division of Nuclear Security Raja Adnan, and Ambassador Laura S.H. Holgate, U.S. Representative to the Vienna Office of the United Nations and the IAEA, joined Anne Harrington, NNSA’s Deputy Administrator of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation, at Y-12 and Oak Ridge National Laboratory.  Staff at the sites engaged the group in a demonstration of nuclear security, emergency preparedness, and emergency response capabilities.  Concluding their visit, the delegation met with NNSA leadership in Washington, D.C. for in-depth dialogues on promoting global nuclear security efforts.
