Chief Information Officer

Amy Northcutt was appointed in January 2012 as the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Chief Information Officer (CIO). In this capacity, she is responsible for NSF's information technology investments, governance, policy, and planning. Information technology at NSF enables the receipt, review, and funding of proposals for research. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Northcutt served as Acting Office Head, Information and Resource Management at NSF, overseeing information technology, human resource management, and administrative services. From 2001 - 2011, Ms. Northcutt served as Deputy General Counsel of the Foundation.

Prior to her service at NSF, Ms. Northcutt served as Vice President for Administration of Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. Previously, she held several positions at the Interstate Commerce Commission, including Chief of Staff to the Chairman. A member of the Oklahoma Bar, Ms. Northcutt was an associate of the Oklahoma City law firm of Crowe and Dunlevy from 1987-1991.

Ms. Northcutt holds a J.D., magna cum laude, from Boston College Law School, an A.M.R.S. from the University of Chicago, and a B.A. from Smith College.
