International Applications

NREL's International Program in its effort to promote the use of renewable energy as a tool for sustainable development, applies world-class expertise in technology development and deployment, economic analysis, resource assessment, project design and implementation, and policy formulation.

Assisting State and Local Governments

Using renewable energy and being energy efficient is smart. Not only does it protect the environment, it benefits the economy. Many mayors, governors, city/county commissioners, state legislators, state energy office staff, and other state officials are now looking into clean energy programs for their states or cities. If you're part of this forward-thinking group, check out our State and Local Project Technical Assistance website.

Saving Energy and Water in Federal Buildings

The Department of Energy's Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) team at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory assists government agencies like yours in implementing projects that increase energy and water efficiency. Many projects also include clean, sustainable, renewable energy systems. Check out the Federal Energy Management Project Assistance website for help with using authorized private-sector financing methods to fund qualifying projects. FEMP also can assist you in selecting renewable energy and distributed power technologies — such as solar water-heating systems, photovoltaics, wind turbines, geothermal systems, and biomass power — that meet your facility's needs.

Climate Neutral Research Campuses

Research campuses consume more energy per square foot than most facilities. They also have greater opportunities to reduce energy consumption, implement renewable energy systems, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and set an example of climate neutrality. To learn more about NREL's five-step process to develop and implement climate action plans, please visit Climate Neutral Research Campuses site.

Green Power Network

NREL's green power program activity analyzes the implications of customer choice on the market demand for renewable energy in both regulated and evolving competitive electricity markets. Analyses include the market potential for green power, the status of domestic green power marketing activities, the role of customer aggregation in green power market development, and successful utility green pricing strategies. NREL maintains the Green Power Network for DOE.

Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy

The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) website provides hundreds of websites and thousands of online documents on energy efficiency and renewable energy, including an Energy Analysis section.
