Under the Energy Storage Safety Strategic Plan, an Energy Storage Safety initiative has been underway since July 2015. One of three key components of that initiative involves codes, standards and regulations (CSR) impacting the timely deployment of safe energy storage systems (ESS). A CSR working group has been monitoring the development of standards and model codes and providing input as appropriate to those development activities. The timely deployment of safe ESS is how to document and validate compliance with current CSR. A task force under the CSR working group was formed to address compliance with current CSR. Through their efforts, the Energy Storage System Guide for Compliance with Safety Codes and Standards 2016 was developed.
