December 2012 - Harris LithoGraphics and GRAPHCOM have each joined the Green-e Marketplace with respective purchases of enough renewable energy certificates (RECs) to meet 100 percent of each company's annual electricity needs. Harris LithoGraphics purchased U.S.-based wind generation RECs through Clean Currents and GRAPHCOM also purchased its RECs from U.S.-based renewable generation.

April 2012 - Clean Currents announced the launch of its Green Passport D.C. promotional campaign, which runs from April 3rd through May 6th. The Green Passport D.C. contest combines social media with in-person activities to promote Washington D.C. area businesses that utilize renewable wind energy provided by Clean Currents.

Green Passport D.C. uses smart phone applications which allow participants to scan a quick response (QR) code to “check in” to participating locations. Participants will earn $2.50 each time they check in to any of the forty-eight participating companies, with a maximum award of $50, and a chance to win a $2,000 grand prize. In addition to rewards, participants also have the option to choose one of four local charities to receive a matching donation from Clean Currents each time they check in to a Green Passport D.C. destination.

March 2012 - More than 100 community and religious groups in the Washington D.C. area have joined forces to reduce their electricity costs and increase renewable energy usage through group electricity purchasing. The community power efforts were organized by Groundswell, a Washington-based non-profit organization, who facilitated the collective buying power of the organizations to purchase electricity at reduced rates.

The participating groups recently selected Clean Currents to supply electricity for the community power initiative. Clean Currents is offering several electricity options for the coalition, including options to purchase 100 percent wind power.

November 2011 - Twenty-nine companies, organizations and individuals were recognized with national achievement awards at the Renewable Energy Markets 2011 Conference in San Francisco. The Green Power Leadership Awards recognize actions that are significantly advancing the development of renewable electricity sources through renewable energy markets. The awards are presented by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Center for Resource Solutions (CRS).

EPA's Partner of the Year awards went to the Empire State Building, Google Inc., Intel Corp., Kohl's Department Stores, and Staples. Portland, Oregon and Washington, D.C. were honored as Communities of the Year. 3Degrees and Washington Gas Energy Services were named Non-Utility Green Power Suppliers of the Year by DOE, and DTE Energy won for Utility Green Power Program of the Year. DOE also awarded the Clean Energy Collective the Innovative Green Power Program of the Year Award. CRS presented Tennessee Valley Campus Outreach Program the award for Best Green Power Education Outreach Program, New Leaf Paper, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, and Villanti & Sons, Printers Inc. the award for Best Marketing Campaign by a Green Power Purchaser. CRS also recognized Clean Currents for the Best Marketing Campaign by a Green Power Supplier and Senator Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) as the Green Power Pioneer Award.
