Friends of Patuxent Research Refuge

The Friends of Patuxent Wildlife Research Center and Patuxent Research Refuge, Inc., is a tax-exempt, non-profit organization that was formed in 1992 to support the missions and programs of the Patuxent Research Refuge and the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center in Laurel, Maryland.

Friends of Patuxent raise funds to help support educational programs, exhibits, and re¬search. The focus of the research includes environmental contaminants, migratory birds, studies of endangered species and other environmental issues.

Friends of Patuxent operate the "Wildlife Images" bookstore and seasonal electric tram tours at the National Wildlife Visitor Center and also sponsors educational programs and fundraisers to benefit the missions of the refuge and research center.

Youth Conservation Corps Program

The Youth Conservation Corps Program is a summer employment program for young men and women from all segments of society, who work, earn, and learn together doing outdoor conservation projects at Patuxent Research Refuge.
