FLAP Canada's 2016 Bird Layout

On March 9th FLAP Canada held its Annual Bird Display at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). Over 2100 birds, all victims of window collisions, were laid out to raise awareness on this leading cause of bird death. FLAP wishes to thank the ROM for their ongoing support in providing us with the venue for this powerful event.

Join our citizen science project

By sharing your bird-window collision encounter, you are contributing to a global database. This will help the scientific and governmental communities better understand the magnitude of the bird-window collision issue and to inspire new and effective bird collision deterrent technologies.

Follow bird migration live

Like air quality, pollen count and UV reports, the FLAP Tracker is a Bird Migration Intensity report that displays current weather conditions, a wind direction map and weather radar technology that helps track the concentration of birds in the Great Lakes region.

HELP AN INJURED BIRD

If you're like the rest of us, it won't be long before you'll encounter a bird that has been injured from a window collision. Leaving this defenseless bird on the ground to recover from its injuries is not recommended. Instead, the bird will need all the help it can get...and this starts with you.

REPORTING SPECIES AT RISK

You can help protect listed bird species at the click of a mouse. Whenever you encounter a listed bird species that has died in a building collision, simply visit the Ministry of Natural Resource's website and fill in their Rare Species Reporting form.

JOIN THE BIRD RESCUE TEAM

There are over 940,000 registered buildings for the City of Toronto alone, not to mention the millions more across North America. All of these buildings have the potential for bird/window collisions. FLAP Canada needs your help to conduct search and rescue patrols for these fallen birds.
