  • Description: This is a multidisciplinary eduction guide for grades 2-12 from the Shorebird Sister Schools Program. It includes ideas for how to adapt for preschool, 1st grade, home school, youth groups, and nature center. This curriculum uses shorebirds as a focus for learning about wetland habitats, migration, and other cultures.   • Description: Using the theme of the 2013 Gulf Spill's impact on migratory birds and other wildlife, the curriculum explores the work of various environmental professionals that mobilize to respond to ecological threats. Students learn about a few key migratory bird species and the Fish and Wildlife Service's National Wildlife Refuge Systems that conserves them, as well as the impacts of oil spills on the Gulf Coast ecosystem and its human communities. Students will hear about a variety of natural resources careers and the academic experience and job skills needed to be successful in these conservation positions.
