Georges Bank Haddock Landing Report - 12/10/97

For the 1997 fishing year only, the haddock landing limit increased, beginning September 1, 1997, from 1,000 pounds per trip to 1,000 pounds per day, to a maximum of 10,000 pounds per trip. Once the Regional Administrator projects that 1,150 metric tons (MT) of the 1,608 MT target total allowable catch of Georges Bank haddock is harvested, the National Marine Fisheries Service will publish a notice in the Federal Register specifying when the management measure for haddock will revert back to a 1,000 pound per trip possession limit. Vessel owners will also be notified by a permit holder letter. The following is a preliminary report representing a combination of vessel and dealer statistics for Georges Bank haddock. The results may fluctuate, both upward and downward, as additional data from either source are received.
