Through the Gateway for Accelerated Innovation in Nuclear (GAIN), the U.S. Department of Energy is providing up to $2 million for the Nuclear Energy Voucher pilot program. The goal of the program is to assist new entrants into the nuclear field as they build the collaborations necessary to accelerate the development and deployment of innovative nuclear technologies by granting them access to the extensive nuclear research capabilities available at DOE’s national laboratories and Nuclear Science User Facilities partners.

Department of Energy Announces New Awards for Advanced Nuclear Energy Development

Building on the President’s all-of-the-above energy strategy, the Department of Energy today awarded more than $5 million to undergraduate and graduate students in pursuit of nuclear engineering degrees and other nuclear science and engineering programs relevant to nuclear energy. The awards include 57 undergraduate scholarships and 33 graduate-level fellowships for students at American colleges and universities.

Chicago To Host Energy Department’s First Public Meeting on Consent-Based Siting For Nuclear Waste Management System

On Tuesday, March 29, in Chicago, the U.S. Department of Energy will host the first of eight public meetings around the country intended to help design its consent-based siting process for federal facilities to manage our nation's nuclear waste. These meetings are intended to allow the public, communities, states, Tribal Nations and others to help inform the Department’s thinking as it develops this process.

Office of Nuclear Energy to Enhance Small Business Access to Research Facilities

Furthering efforts to encourage clean energy innovation in nuclear energy, the Department of Energy (DOE) released a draft Request for Assistance (RFA) today for the Nuclear Energy Voucher Program to be used by small business applicants. The voucher program will give businesses access to DOE’s unique, globally recognized facilities and researchers, which will help them further their efforts to develop next generation nuclear energy technologies.
