  • Free Guided Refuge Tours

    Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge offers FREE guided tours on select Fridays, Saturdays, and/or Sundays. Please check in at the visitor center for tour availability. Sign up at the visitor center and join one of our expert naturalists on a exciting tour. Each tour offers a unique perspective of the refuge. Examples of tours include Raptor Ramble, Hidden Secrets of Bosque del Apache, Duck Detectives and Go Birding at Bosque del Apache NWR (note: not all tours offered every year/day). Transportation provided (15 person van).

    Hunting is one of the priority recreational uses on National Wildlife Refuges and compatible with the mission of this refuge. Hunting for a variety of species is allowed in specific areas of the refuge.

    Fishing is allowed in designated areas of the refuge from April 1 through September 30, from one half hour before sunrise to one half hour after sunset.

    Frogging for bullfrogs is allowed on the refuge from June 1 through September 30 in areas open to fishing.
