Educators - Don’t miss an opportunity for your students to experience one of New Mexico’s most fascinating natural resources!

School Bus Tours:

The Friends of the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge is pleased to offer bus scholarships to cover some of the travel costs to visit the refuge.

Each touring school can receive up to $250 in reimbursement for travel costs through the refuge’s Friends of the Bosque organization.

The refuge is open year-round.

What We Do

Grus canadensis

Sandhill cranes move among several areas throughout the day to feed, rest, and socialize. Social behavior includes at least ten different types of calls, various threatening postures, and elaborate dances for everything from joy to courtship.
