Forecast Discussion: It will be a mild holiday weekend for the State of Delaware. Things will get off to an unsettled start on Christmas Eve as a quick-moving cold front brings a round of showers in the morning. This precipitation, along with breezy afternoon winds, will be sufficient to drop particles to the upper Good range. High pressure will return for Christmas Day, with sunny skies and light surface winds. Limited atmospheric mixing will allow particles to rebound to the Moderate range. A warm front will lift over the northern Mid-Atlantic region on Monday and transport milder air into the state for the start of the week. A very strong surface inversion and light easterly winds will keep particles in the Moderate range, mainly in northern Delaware. Another cold front will arrive on Tuesday morning, bringing a chance for showers. Breezy winds and plenty of vertical mixing associated with the frontal passage will return particles to the Good range. **Extended Forecast: Seasonably cool and dry air will build into the state on Wednesday. Sustained northwesterly winds and ample vertical mixing will keep particles in the Good range. -Huff |
