Monument's Northern Islands Submerged Lands Transferred to CNMIOn December 21, the Government of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands received a patent to submerged lands extending three geographical miles seaward from the mean high tide of the islands of Farallon de Pajaros (Uracas), Maug and Asuncion within the Marinas Trench Marine National Monument. |

Threatened Oregon Silverspot Butterfly on Flight Path to ReintroductionImagine walking through an open meadow along the Oregon coastline and you are surrounded by butterflies with wings of yellow-orange fluttering all around you. This enchanting scene is closer to becoming a reality as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and partners propose to re-establish two populations of the threatened Oregon silverspot butterfly. The locations identified for potential reintroduction are Saddle Mountain State Natural Area and Nestucca Bay National Wildlife Refuge |
