The convective and fire weather outlook shapefiles and KML files are created based on the NDFD grids using GDAL utilities.
Additional reformatting steps were taken post GDAL transformation to provide KML color-filled polygons,
legends and KML tags to improve readability.

Please note that the categorical outlook shapefiles contain DN attributes which are based on the NDFD grid values which are defined as:
2 - Thunderstorm
3 - Marginal Risk
4 - Slight Risk
5 - Enhanced Risk
6 - Moderate Risk
8 - High Risk
For probabilistic outlook shapefiles the DN value denotes the probability (i.e., DN = 2 denotes 2%).
