Selection Process
The Shelby County mayor shall appoint the licensed well driller and one member at large, to be then confirmed by the County Commission. The Memphis City mayor appoints the professional engineer and one member at large, to be then confirmed by the Memphis City Council.

Function & Authority
The board will secure, protect, and preserve the quality and quantity of the groundwater within Shelby County.
