The Student Volunteer Internship Program provides students with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience, apply their educational knowledge to the real workforce, and offer fresh perspectives and innovative solutions to problems. Students have the opportunity to participate in the volunteer program throughout the year, though the majority of positions will be offered during the summer months.

This program will provide students an opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of FERC's mission and expose them to FERC career opportunities. The program focuses on providing educational development opportunities for students and a better understanding of FERC's day-to-day work. Ideally, students are assigned to work in areas representative of their interests and field of study. Volunteer interns will be able to participate in learning activities throughout the Commission and outside of their program area.

To be eligible for the volunteer program, students must:

• be a US citizen;
• be a student enrolled in at least half time course load pursuing post-secondary education;
• be in good standing with their academic institution and receive permission from a school official to participate; and,
• agree to a background check.

Students are expected to work at least 16 hours per week with minimum 3 hours per work day; and a commit to working at least eight consecutive weeks.
