Becoming a National Clean Fleets Partner
UPS began incorporating alternative fuels and advanced vehicles into its fleet in the late 1980s. Today, the company operates nearly 2,700 vehicles that run on electricity, compressed natural gas, and other alternative fuels.
Large private fleets can make significant reductions in their petroleum use by participating in the National Clean Fleets Partnership. The initiative provides fleets with specialized resources, expertise, and support to incorporate alternative fuels and fuel-saving measures into their operations.
How to Join
Once a fleet becomes a Clean Fleets partner, a Clean Cities account manager works one-on-one with fleet representatives to create a customized strategy to reduce petroleum use. The account manager also identifies Clean Cities coalitions in areas where the fleet operates and connects the fleet with appropriate fuel providers and equipment manufacturers.
