No, this is not a cookbook full of all the tantalizing recipes yet to come in the year 2009 from the editors at Cooking Light magazine. Rather, the 2009 edition is a full collection of all the recipes published in the magazine during the year 2008, and the results are sensational. I am impressed every year (and really, every month) with the ingenuity and quality of the recipes found in cooking light and the 2009 cookbook is no different. Check it out not only for the recipes, but for menu ideas, tips on nutrition, and useful cooking tips for both the novice and expert in the kitchen.

Usually this is a breakfast dish my family would prepare on a holiday morning. However, these easy cinnamon orange rolls make a really nice breakfast or brunch for any cool, wintery weekend morning when you are wanting to do something fun for the family. Because they do take some time to raise, they are ideal for a late breakfast or brunch. Or, you could prepare them late the night before, and then allow them to raise in the refrigerator until you wake up in the morning!

This holiday season has been a rather chilly one for a lot of us in the United States, and there is no exception where I am staying. A cup of hot chocolate has been in order on more than one occasion, but I want to avoid the extra calories that come from drinking such a treat. That is why I came up with a simple recipe for low calorie hot chocolate that uses only a few ingredients. Stirring a candy cane in this hot chocolate gives it a lovely peppermint flavor. It also adds a nice holiday touch if you are entertaining for the holidays.
