Reactor Materials

The reactor materials crosscut effort will enable the development of innovative and revolutionary materials and provide broad-based, modern materials science that will benefit all four DOE-NE objectives. This will be accomplished through innovative materials development, promoting the use of modern materials science and establishing new, shared research partnerships.

Research into specific degradation modes or material needs unique to a particular reactor design should take place within the supporting program. Program-specific requirements, unique testing needs, and potential for overlap make inclusion in the materials crosscut less advantageous.
