Window into a Green Virginia
This curriculum, developed with the Virginia Department of Education for Science SOL 6.9 (Resources), addresses pollution prevention and environmental quality, and includes cross-references to other Mathematics and Social Studies SOLs. Students are invited to peer through metaphorical "Windows" to examine key dimensions of developing sustainable communities. Topics include Energy, Water, Air, Agriculture, Forestry, Wildlife, Land Use, Floods, Natural Hazards, and Green Building. The culminating activity helps students examine real problems, weigh facts and present views on current issues.
