City Manager James K. Hartmann has appointed Acting Chief of Police Earl L. Cook as Alexandria’s Chief of Police, effective immediately. Chief Cook, a native Alexandrian, is a 30-year veteran of the Alexandria Police Department and the first African-American to serve as Chief of Police in the City’s history.
The City has mailed 2009 Vehicle Personal Property Tax bills to all vehicle owners residing in the City, and 2009 Business Personal Property Tax bills to all businesses operating in the City as of January 1, 2009. Taxpayers should receive their bill by September 15; both Personal Property and Business Personal Property Taxes are due on October 5.
