Technical Description: 

Heat pump water heaters use electricity, but they can be two to three times more energy efficient than conventional electric resistance water heaters. Heat pump water heaters operate on the same principle as the air source heat pumps that heat and cool homes (or a refrigerator or an air conditioner), using electric compressors and pumps to move heat from surrounding space or through a vent from outside, and transfer that heat to the water tank.
