October 2007 - Twenty-seven companies, organizations and individuals were recognized with national achievement awards at the Twelfth National Renewable Energy Marketing Conference in Philadelphia. The Green Power Leadership Awards recognize actions that are significantly advancing the development of renewable electricity sources through renewable energy markets. The awards are presented by the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the Center for Resource Solutions.
Among green power purchasers, the highest honors went to City of Bellingham, WA, Johnson & Johnson, Mohawk Fine Papers, Inc., PepsiCo, Staples, Wells Fargo & Company and Whole Foods Market, who were named Partner of the Year. Pacific Power and Rocky Mountain Power and Silicon Valley Power were named Green Power Programs of the Year and Constellation NewEnergy won for New Green Power Product. John Schaeffer of Gaiam Real Goods and William Sprately of Green Energy Ohio received the Green Power Pioneer Award.

January 2007 - Wells Fargo & Company took the top spot in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) list of the nation's "Top 25" green power purchasers with a commitment to 550 million kWh of annual renewable energy purchases, which represents 42% of the company's total electricity use. Newcomers to the list include Cisco Systems Inc. (at #11), New York University (#13), Carbonfund.org (#17), the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (#18), and Kohl's Department Stores (#23).
The EPA Green Power Partnership is comprised of a diverse set of organizations including Fortune 500 companies, small and medium businesses, government institutions, and colleges and universities that had committed to a total of more than 7 billion kWh of annual renewable energy purchases at the end of 2006.

October 2006 - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Green Power Partnership (GPP) released its quarterly list of the "Top 25" organizations that purchase electricity generated from renewable energy resources. While the U.S. Air Force remains the top national purchaser, Wells Fargo & Company has become the top corporate purchaser, placing second overall. Other new list entrants include DuPont Company (No. 7), Vail Resorts (No. 9), Sprint Nextel (No. 14), California State University System (No. 19), City of Austin, Texas (No. 21), and NatureWorks LLC (No. 23).
In aggregate, Green Power Partners purchase more than 7 billion kWh of renewable energy annually, an increase of nearly 240% since the end of 2004. The Top 25 purchases account for nearly 4.7 billion kWh or about two-thirds of all Partner purchases.

October 2006 - Wells Fargo & Company, a diversified financial services company with $500 billion in assets, announced that it is purchasing 550 million kWh of wind energy annually, thus becoming the largest corporate purchaser of renewable energy in the United States, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Green Power Partnership. The purchase will offset 40% of the company's overall electricity use with Green-e certified renewable energy certificates (RECs) supplied by 3 Phases Energy (now serviced by 3Degrees). The three-year purchase agreement began on October 1.
