Marylanders Asked to Provide Recreation Information
Western Region Meeting Scheduled The
AlleganyCountyCommissioners, Michael W. McKay, Creade V. Brodie,
Jr., and William R. Valentine, wish to encourage all
citizens and stakeholders to attend an upcoming Maryland
Department of Natural Resources (DNR) public meeting. DNR is
asking citizens for their input on State outdoor recreation
facilities and services in areas throughout Maryland. The Regional Stakeholder Recreation
Evaluation public meeting for the Western Region will be
held on Tuesday,
March 5, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at
AlleganyCollege of Maryland,
12401 Willowbrook Road
– Continuing Education Building Room 8, Cumberland. Commissioner Valentine has
publicly stated that this is an opportunity for the general
public, for example, to express support for off road vehicle
trails availability in Green

quarterly statements from the Allegany County Tax and
Utility Office can expect to see a new design. The Tax and
Utility Office has implemented new computer software for the
water and sewer billing function. Because of this software
change AlleganyCounty
is able to provide water and sewer customers with additional
detailed information. This will first appear on the January
31, 2013 quarterly statement which is now being mailed.

State of the County 2012
The Board of County Commissioners of AlleganyCounty
presented its report on the State of the County 2012 at the
public business meeting on January 10, 2013. All three County
Commissioners, Michael W. McKay,
Creade V. Brodie, Jr., and William R. Valentine,
participated in the presentation.

Maryland Rural Counties Coalition Grows to Ten Counties The Maryland Rural Counties Coalition has expanded now to
ten counties. With a vote on Tuesday, December 4, the Kent
County Commissioners voted to join the Coalition. The
Coalition now consists of Allegany, Caroline, Carroll,
Cecil, Dorchester, Frederick, Kent, Somerset, Washington and
Wicomico Counties, representing 939,980 rural Maryland
residents. On December 12, 2011, the governing bodies of
Allegany, Carroll, Frederick and Washington Counties
announced the creation of the Maryland Rural Counties
Coalition with an eye towards other rural counties joining
their ranks, for purposes of strengthening their
policy-related standing in the halls of Annapolis. Since
then, five additional counties have now become members of
the Coalition.

Run Sanitary District Sewer Projects: Public Meeting
The Allegany County

regarding the upcoming sewer projects in the Jennings Run
Sanitary District. Staff from the Allegany County Department
of Public Works will discuss the projects and proposed sewer
rates.Community

7:00 p.m. at the Allegany County Office Building,

Sewer Project: Public Meeting
The Allegany County Commissioners, Michael W. McKay, Creade
V. Brodie, Jr., and William R. Valentine, have scheduled a
public meeting regarding the
Oldtown Road
area of Cumberland.
Staff from the Allegany County Department of Public Works
will discuss the proposed sewer rates. Community members and
interested individuals are invited and encouraged to attend
on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. at
the Allegany County Office Building, 701 Kelly Road – Room
100, Cumberland. Individuals
