ERC Conference to be held at LDEQ on Jan.26

The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality will soon be implementing a revision to its emission reduction credit (ERC) banking rule that expands the eligibility of emission reduction projects to mobile sources (e.g. trucks, marine vessels, trains). Implementing this new ERC strategy will help improve Baton Rouge air quality and mitigate constraints to economic development of the current "point source only" banking system.

      Baton Rouge's 2008 8-hour ozone nonattainment area re-designated to attainment status

      Today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency re-designated the Greater Baton Rouge Nonattainment Area (BRNA) to attainment for the 2008 8-hour ozone standard. The state of Louisiana submitted a request for EPA to re-designate the BRNA to attainment status and to approve a State Implementation Plan (SIP) revision containing a maintenance plan for the area. This is another milestone in Louisiana's continuing effort to improve air quality.

            Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation receives $60,000 grant from EPA

            The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is awarding $60,000 to the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation to help protect and restore urban waters in the New Orleans area. The grant will also support community revitalization and other local priorities.

              Jefferson Parish wins awards from the Water Environment Federation

              Jefferson Parish won several 2016 MS4 Stormwater and Green Infrastructure Awards gold certificates from the Water Environment Federation for the Innovation and Management of their Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) and going above and beyond regulatory requirements.
