Environmental Analysis
​​​Environmental Planning & Analysis provides guidance and direction on the integration of environmental issues into BPA’s business decision making.

This group provides general environmental management and analytical support within BPA for regulatory compliance. Specifically, the group conducts the following activities:

​Pole Creek in Idaho’s Salmon Basin is a much better home for salmon after ranchers worked with tribes, state and local conservation groups to relocate irrigation diversions and add water to the stream.
  • Integrates statutory and regulatory environmental and cultural resource compliance requirements (NEPA, ESA, Clean Water Act [CWA], NHPA & other federal laws) into BPA’s decision-making processes
  • Coordinates public involvement in support of environmental analysis
  • Documents environmental regulatory compliance with environmental regulations
  • Addresses emerging environmental issues that affect BPA’s business, that set precedence, involve unique or unusual circumstances, or may otherwise have national significance
  • Coordinates BPA’s environmental policies  and direction with the US Department of Energy (DOE), US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, and Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) as appropriate
  • Manages costs of environmental statutory compliance, mitigation measures, and monitoring requirements
