Deadline approaching for EMSL’s Science Theme proposals

Released: February 04, 2016
Proposals should address specific selected topics

Proposals for EMSL’s Science Theme Research call may be submitted at any time until Feb. 29 at 11 p.m. PST via the User Portal.

Researchers should submit proposals for molecular-scale research that address specific selected topics in the EMSL Science Themes to accelerate results in emerging science areas of interest to EMSL, the Department of Energy’s Office of Biological and Environmental Research, or DOE BER, and the DOE. The Call for FY2017 Proposals for Science Theme Research webpage provides more information about this year’s focused topics, as well as contact information and links to the review criteria and proposal package guidance.

EMSL strongly encourages prospective users to contact the relevant Science Theme lead or capability lead well in advance of the deadline to discuss proposal ideas and possible research collaborations with EMSL and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory staff. Prospective users interested in coupling experimental and computational approaches or developing novel computational modeling and informatics methods that support research within the EMSL Science Themes focused topics should contact the lead scientist for Multiscale Modeling and High-Performance Computing or the capability lead for Molecular Science Computing Scientific Consulting

Award decisions will be made by July 31, and approved proposals will be granted access to EMSL resources beginning Oct. 1, 2016.

Researchers planning to submit both a Science Theme Research proposal and a JGI-EMSL Letter of Intent should be aware of the different deadlines for each opportunity.
