The Grid Modernization Initiative (GMI) was created specifically to address drivers of change in the Quadrennial Energy Review (QER) and the assessment of technologies and research in the Quadrennial Technology Review (QTR). Both reviews were written with the goals in the Climate Action Plan (CAP) in mind. In addition, the Grid Modernization Multi-Year Program Plan (GMMYPP) supports the nation's commitment to dramatically accelerate public and private global clean energy research and development in the multi-national Mission Innovation initiative.
