Workers at Volvo Trucks’ New River Valley assembly plant lower a Volvo VNL 780 sleeper cab onto its chassis. The plant produces Class 8 trucks weighing more than 33,000 pounds. Through participation in the Better Plants program, Volvo has improved the energy intensity (e.g., energy required per truck) by 26% at its New River Valley plant. Better Plants Manager Eli Levine and AMO Industrial Technical Assistance Fellow Robert Lung toured this plan on Manufacturing Day. (Photo courtesy of Volvo Trucks)
