DOE/EERE Internships

Clean Cities University Workforce Development Program
Internships with Clean Cities coalitions are available throughout the year for undergraduate (junior or senior) or graduate students studying communications, public relations, business, marketing, engineering, or environmental sciences. 

Community College Internship Program (CCI)
The Community College Internship (CCI) program seeks to encourage community college students to enter technical careers relevant to the DOE mission by providing technical training experiences at the DOE laboratories. Selected students participate as interns appointed at one of 15 participating DOE laboratories.

EERE Student Volunteer Internship Program (SVIP)
The Department f Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) offers exciting student volunteer internships through the year at DOE Headquarters in Washington, DC and the Golden Field Office in Golden, CO. Positions are limited and offered on a competitive basis. 

General Counsel Law Student Intern Program
The Office of the General Counsel offers law students firsthand exposure to the fast-moving and evolving practice of energy law. The General Counsel’s Office provides legal advice, counsel, and support to the Secretary, the Deputy Secretary, and program offices throughout DOE to further the Department’s mission of advancing the national, economic, and energy security of the United States through scientific and technological innovation and the environmental cleanup of the national nuclear weapons complex.  

General Counsel Undergraduate Intern Program
The DOE's General Counsel Undergraduate Intern Program offers college students to gain firsthand exposure to cutting-edge issues in energy law and policy. Interns can expect work assignments concerning an array of energy related issues, such as energy efficiency enforcement, implementation of energy law, renewable technologies, and increasing transparency, accountability and efficiency within the DOE. Internships are available during the summer and for semesters. Interns are required to work a minimum of ten weeks during the summer, and 12-14 weeks for the fall and spring semesters. 

Minority Educational Institution Student Partnership Program (MEISPP)
MEISPP offers talendted undergraduate and graduate students summer internship positions with the DOE and its national laboratories. Positions involve scientific research or a focus on policy, business, and government relations. Internships include lodging, round-trip airfare, and student stipends. As program participants, students receive an intensive 8-10 week assignment. 

Office of Indian Energy Policy and Programs College Student Internship Program
The DOE's Office of Indian Energy offers internships for current full-time graduate students who are familiar with Native American culture and tribal issues. Interns provide support on Office of Indian Energy-funded projects and assist a cross-disciplinary team to perform specific technical tasks in the field and at DOE’s Sandia National Laboratories.

Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) 
The SULI program encourages undergraduate students to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers by providing research experiences at the DOE laboratories. Selected students participate as interns appointed at one of the 17 participating DOE laboratories/facilities. Internship appointments are 10 weeks in duration for the Summer Term or 16 weeks through the Fall and Spring Terms.
