This next generation guide seeks to continue lessening the gap between theory and practice for incorporating climate change considerations in conservation planning and action. Using an iterative, stepwise process, this guide connects users with practical advice and relevant tools for creating a new conservation plan or updating an existing one. Applications also include other types of planning, such as hazard mitigation or comprehensive plans.
Voluntary Step-by-Step Guide for Considering Potential Climate Change Effects on Coastal and Estuarine Land Conservation Projects
NOAA created this voluntary guidance to help practitioners consider climate in their conservation decisions. Specifically, this guide aims to assist CELCP applicants in considering potential climate change effects on proposed projects and also to assist state CELCP leads in incorporating potential climate change impacts into state CELCP plans.
Great Lakes Areas of Concern Land Acquisition Projects
NOAA’s Office for Coastal Management has provided nearly $2.7 million in Great Lakes Restoration Initiative funds to state and local partners to protect critical coastal lands in “Areas of Concern”—watersheds, or portions of watersheds, suffering from degraded environmental conditions.
