Energy Department Launches $10 Million Effort to Develop Advanced Water Splitting Materials

The Energy Department (DOE) recently announced $10 million, subject to appropriations, to support the launch of the HydroGEN Advanced Water Splitting Materials Consortium (HydroGEN). This consortium will utilize the expertise and capabilities of the national laboratories to accelerate the development of commercially viable pathways for hydrogen production from renewable energy sources.

DOE Announces $30 Million Investment in Hydrogen and Fuel Cells as Industry Continues Unprecedented Growth Rates

In commemoration  of National Hydrogen Day, aptly chosen for the atomic weight of hydrogen (1.008), the Energy Department (DOE) released a new report today showing continued momentum and growth in the fuel cell industry. The 2015 Fuel Cell Technologies Market Report shows that hydrogen and fuel cells continue to grow at an unprecedented rate, with more than 60,000 fuel cells, totaling roughly 300 megawatts (MW), shipped worldwide in 2015. The number of MW shipped grew by more than 65% compared to 2014.

Energy Department Announces Up to $40 Million for an Open-water Wave Energy Test Site

The Energy Department today announced up to $40 million in available funding, subject to congressional appropriations, to support the site selection, design, permitting, and construction of a national open-water, wave energy testing facility within U.S. federal or state waters. The Department anticipates the facility will contain at least three test berths to simultaneously and independently test wave energy devices.
