- President Obama Signs IUU Legislation - Nov 10: President Obama signed bi-partisan legislation on November 5, 2015, that includes a number of provisions preventing illegally harvested fish from entering the United States, and supports efforts to achieve sustainable fisheries around the world.
- Species At-Risk of IUU Fishing Identified - Oct 29: The National Ocean Council Committee on IUU Fishing & Seafood Fraud has published its final list of principles for determining species "at-risk" of IUU and seafood fraud, as well as a final list of IUU species.
- Proposed Rule Tackles International Bycatch - Aug 10: NOAA issues proposed rule to protect marine mammals in international fisheries. Comment period open until Nov. 9.
- At Risk Species Named for Traceability Program - Jul 30: The National Ocean Council Committee on IUU fishing and Seafood Fraud (NOC Committee) is seeking comment on its draft list of principles for determining species “at risk” of IUU fishing and seafood fraud, as well as a draft list of “at risk” species.
- Input Needed to Fight IUU Fishing, Seafood Fraud - Apr 30: To fight seafood fraud and illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, the Administration is seeking public input, now through June 8, on the principles to be used in determining fish species “at risk” of these illegal activities.
- Presidential Task Force on Combating IUU Fishing - Mar 15: The action plan for implementing the Task Force Recommendations is now available.
- NOAA Releases Report on IUU Fishing - Feb 9: NOAA has released its 2015 Biennial report to Congress highlighting U.S. findings and analyses of foreign illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing activities.
- Whale Sharks Receive International Protection - Dec 29: Whale sharks are among the world’s largest fish, and it is precisely their size that prompted restrictions to protect them from impacts associated with tuna fishing.
- IUU Task Force Releases Recommendations - Dec 16: A Presidential Task Force has developed its recommendations to combat illegal, unregulated, and unreported fishing and seafood fraud. The recommendations are available for review with a request for comment on implementation strategies.
