About Us
DataLeague is UMD iSchool’s inaugural Open Data Hackathon. Over a 24- hour period, developers, data analysts and UX designers will come together to hack their way through data and build applications, visualizations, and models. Join the Open Data Revolution!
DataLeague aims to promote sharing and collaboration. The unrestricted access to information has a positive impact that fosters innovation, transparency, and civic engagement.
We welcome students from different majors and coding skills are not required. We want you to get experience of Open Data.

Can I attend this hackathon?
Yes, if you are an undergraduate, graduate, or Ph.D. student enrolled at any US institution, we’d love to have you join us!
Do I have to pay?
This event is absolutely free! It includes participation, swag, merchandise, food and drinks.
How do I register?
Click the Register button and tell us about yourself. Registrations open at 8:00 AM (EST) on October 1st 2016 and close at 11:59 PM on November 1st 2016. Once your application is received, you will be notified by email if you have been selected. You will receive 36 hours to RSVP, at the end of which your seat will be provided to someone else on the waitlist if you decline or do not respond.
Do you provide food?
More that you can imagine. No, seriously, we will keep you well fed and watered.
Can I bring my own team?
Yes, you can!
I don’t have a team. What do I do?
Come on over to the event, and we’ll have team building sessions so you can decide from among the participants.
What do I bring to the Hackathon?
Bring a valid student ID, your laptop and charger, a sleeping bag and pillow if you want to crash for an hour or two, and bundles of enthusiasm.
