NNSA’s human resources team is top notch, according to a recent audit by the Department of Energy (DOE).

In the recently concluded 2016 Human Capital Management Accountability Program (HCMAP) audit, NNSA’s Human Capital Office achieved a rating of over 90 percent in each of the three categories assessed. The three functional areas the study found effective are: talent management, performance culture drivers, and benefits administration.

The report also commended the office for the development of comprehensive standard operating procedures, the use of hiring management case file management system, and the successful implementation of various checklists in support of redundancy and regulatory compliance.

“The 2016 audit result is a great accomplishment for our team. The audit confirms the high quality of work we produce and the value it adds to the NNSA mission,” said NNSA Deputy Associate Administrator for Management Frank Lowery. “I commend the team for their valuable contributions during the study and for exceeding expectations.”

DOE uses HCMAP to ensure all Servicing Human Resources Offices/Shared Service Centers comply with merit system principles; do not engage in prohibited personnel practices, and properly executing federal regulations and requirements established by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the department.

NNSA’s HR function underwent the HCMAP audit from February to April. It was conducted by DOE’s Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer in partnership with OPM. NNSA’s 2016 rating of over 90 percent in each area assessed was a significant improvement over 2013’s rating.
