OFFICE OF PROGRAM INTEGRATION

DEP's Office of Program Integration (OPI) develops and coordinates the implementation of initiatives and programs that span across programs and organizations within the agency. The office is responsible for evaluating statewide program implementation and maintenance for consistency, effectiveness and efficiency; coordinating and integrating policy and program development with field activities; overseeing the development of metrics and the measurement of program effectiveness; organizing multi-agency program initiatives; and supervising special projects that have department-wide significance.

Other objectives of the office focus on coordinating and allocating special funds and federal grants administered by various deputates for their use by field organizations; strategic planning for programs in coordination with the Office of Administration and Management, Regional Offices and executive staff; and directing specific statewide programs, including emergency response and quality assurance.

The office also directs the integration of program policies with implementation in the field to ensure consistency and effectiveness. There is a focus on ensuring the regional and district offices develop and follow program plans which guide the overall efficient use of staff and financial resources. Additionally, the office maintains a comprehensive evaluation program for all DEP offices and the various environmental programs that they are responsible for implementing.

The Office of Program Integration was created during the department-wide reorganization of 2011 to ensure consistency and effectiveness of DEP programs across the six regions.

DEP's Office of Program Integration includes:

  • Permit Review Process and Permit Decision Guarantee
  • Environmental Emergency Response Program
