General Information

Marshallia mohrii is an erect perennial herb, 3 to 7 decimeters (1 to 2.3 feet) tall. The leaves are alternate, 8 to 20 cm (3.2 to 7.8 in.) long, firm-textured, three-nerved, and lanceolate-ovate in shape. Leaves are often clustered near the base and gradually reduce in size upwards. Inflorescences typically consist of several flowering heads in a branched arrangement. The heads are approximately 2.5 cm (1 in.) wide and consist of disk flowers (tubular in shape) that are pale pink or white in color. The fruit is an achene.

Flowering occurs from mid-May through June.

Marshallia mohrii closely resembles M. grandiflora and M. obovata, but can be distinguished by inflorescences that typically consist of multiple flower heads, whereas those of M. grandiflora and M. obovata tend to consist of solitary heads.
