MEMBERSHIP AND ADMINISTRATION

Participation: Participation in the WGADCB is open to individuals, organizations, agencies, or companies with an interest in enhancement of the health and production of aquatic animals.

Organization: The WGADCB is a working group organized under the auspices of the American Fisheries Society’s Fish Culture Section (FCS).

Functionality: The functionality of the WGADB will be solely dependent upon active participation of its membership. The WG is not only a forum in which information is exchanged, it is also an organization that’s primary function is to facilitate the aquaculture drug, chemical and biologics approval process and compliance with existing laws and regulations; facilitation requires active involvement.

Leadership: The FCS President appoints the WGADCB Co-chairs representing different stakeholder groups, including: public data generating partners (2 co-chairs), public sector (1 co-chair), private sector (1 co-chair), and the veterinary community (1 co-chair). The FCS President serves ex officio on all committees, and in the case of the WGADCB, serves as the administrative chair. The administrative chair’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish meeting locations and times, and provide timely notification of such meetings to membership.
  • Carry out administrative functions, such as setting WGADCB meeting agendas, presiding over all meetings, assigning a member as the temporary administrative chair in the event the administrative chair is unable to preside, ensuring that meeting notes are taken to accurately reflect meeting discussion; disseminate draft and final meeting minutes to attendees in a timely manner.
  • Establish subcommittees (and, as necessary, a subcommittee leader) to address specific tasks identified by the WGADCB.
  • Represent the WGADCB as the official spokesperson and point-of-contact.
