Environmental FIB/SEM (Quanta)

The environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM) is a new-generation SEM that can image samples under controlled environments and temperatures. Three-dimensional section analysis morphology, focused ion beam, electron backscattering diffraction, and energy dispersive X-ray analysis make this a versatile instrument for the user program. This instrument provides added capability in SEM imaging with an advanced ability to analyze wet and insulating materials as well as samples at elevated temperatures under controlled gaseous environments.

This instrument:

  • Provides precise 3D imaging and compositional analysis at the nanometer scale
  • Is ideal for the compositional and size analysis of aerosols and atmospheric particles
  • Enables investigation of buried interfaces with nanomachining capabilities
  • Enables temperature- and environment-dependent composition analysis.
