    • "Development of Isotopic Proxies for Palaeoenvironmental Interpretation: A Carbon Perspective" (DIPPI-C) Working Group: 2nd Workshop notification. 20th - 23 August 2013; Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, USA. The 2nd workshop of the DIPPI-C working group. This time, we are "hoping across the pond" from the UK to the USA. The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, Columbia University, New York are hosting us for what promises to be an exciting 3 and a half day workshop, including a local field trip! This 2nd workshop will build upon the outcomes of the 1st workshop, but also seek new perspectives on the inter-disciplinary understanding of carbon in the natural environment. Registration for this workshop, like the 1st workshop, will be free for delegates (morning teas/coffees and snacks, plus lunch, will be provided). More details to follow soon. For updates and information on DIPPI, keep on eye on www.dippi-c.org, follow us on Facebook abd Twitter (@DIPPI_C) or sign up to our mailing list on the working group homepage.

  3. Photo: Today is National Inventors’ Day in the U.S. It’s a day to recognize the many significant contributions by inventors. The U.S. chose Feb. 11 in honor of the birthday of Thomas Alva Edison, who held more than 1,000 patents.

EMSL has 85 U.S. and 87 foreign patents for a total of 172 patents granted since opening its doors Oct. 1, 1997.

Celebrate the day by inventing something.
