Census Briefs are short documents providing findings from Census 2000, current demographic surveys, and the 1997 Economic Census. They contain colorful charts to illustrate major points. Prior to November 1996, the Census Briefs were called the Statistical Briefs. Beginning in December, 1996, the Statistical Briefs series were redesigned and reissued as the Census Briefs.
The Statistical Briefs created before 1995 have presented a couple of errors with the Acrobat reader software. We will leave these publications online with the following recommended work-arounds. One problem is with viewing on screen and another is with printing.
The problem is not in the file itself, but in the way that Acrobat is dealing with fonts used to create the document. The pre-1995 Stat Briefs use fonts which don't have standard Postscript vector encoding. Acrobat has to deal with these as bit-mapped graphics, and the Reader seems to become overwhelmed at some point as it caches these fonts. The problem occurs after several documents using different fonts are loaded into Acrobat Reader or Exchange.
Please exit the Acrobat reader altogether before attempting to read the document you are having trouble with. Then access the document you need, which will start a fresh copy of Acrobat.
A related problem in printing the Statistical Briefs requires you to select a Print Option which will print bit-mapped or True Type fonts as graphics. Do this if your printed output is garbled.

Presents microdata records (with any information that might identify a specific person or household removed) on individuals involved in fishing, hunting, and other wildlife-associated recreation, such as wildlife observation, photography, and feeding. Data include state in which these activities occurred; number of trips taken; duration of trips; and expenditures for food, lodging, transportation, and equipment. The survey was conducted by the Census Bureau for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Department of the Interior, which prepares printed reports in this field.

For every state except Hawaii (which did not have sample sizes large enough to report), certain numbers reported
in the printed state reports and in the online versions prior to 11/10/2010 were incorrect for Table 18 (page 36).
The first ten rows ("All Hunting" and "Big Game" categories) were correct, but the amounts reported for "Small Game,"
"Migratory Bird," and "Other Animals" in the "Average per hunter (dollars)" column were incorrect.

NSHAPC was conducted to provide updated information on homeless assistance programs and the clients who use them to federal agencies responsible for administering homeless assistance programs and to other interested parties. The data are national in scope, and the survey is the first to gather through one effort a wide range of information relevant to the missions of the federal sponsors. NSHAPC was not conducted to produce a count of homeless persons. NSHAPC was conducted under the direction of the Interagency Council on the Homeless.
The data files listed below are formatted for SAS for Windows Version 6.12 and compressed using WinZip 7.0. These microdata have undergone a disclosure review and have been modified to protect the confidentiality of individual respondents as required by law (Title 13, United States Code, Section 9 or the Privacy Act of 1974.)

The Bureau of the Census collected information in the Census of Religious Bodies from 1906-1936. This information was obtained from religious organizations.
Public Law 94-521 prohibits us from asking a question on religious affiliation on a mandatory basis; therefore, the Bureau of the Census is not the source for information on religion.
Some statistics on religion can be found in the Statistical Abstract of the United States, the section on Population.
