What an incredible event. Thank you to The New School, and a special thank you to our insightful speakers (The Kresge Foundation's Lois DeBacker, Russell Reynolds Associates' Jamie Heckinger, and Nonprofit HR's Patty Hampton) and to all attendees - in the room and online - for joining us for what was an incredibly rich discussion.

โ€œIn our census overall, we found no significant gains in the number of black staffers and overwhelming disapproval or indifference in the current state of diversity in hiring and inclusiveness in office environments,โ€ Bell wrote."

โ€œWhile working in oceans, fisheries and national parks for a decade, I noticed a pattern โ€“ I was often the only women of color. I often found it hard to offer any solutions because I, like many others, had to overcome implicit and often explicit barriers where people may think I am less qualified, less knowledgeable and less able to provide insight.โ€

"In just a few months, Green 2.0 helped spur 25 of Americaโ€™s leading environmental-advocacy organizations to voluntarily submit their demographic data to GuideStar. Over the summer of 2015, leaders from six major environmental grant makers โ€” the Bullitt, Ford, Hewlett, Kresge, and Wilburforce foundations and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund โ€” called on their peers to participate.

Alongside D5 Coalition's Kelly Brown and GuideStar USA, Inc.'s Jacob Herald, our founder Robert Raben penned this must-read oped, "How Better Data Can Lead Nonprofits to Greater Diversity."
