NNSA meets with young leaders to discuss nonproliferation

NNSA Assistant Deputy Administrator for the Office of Nonproliferation and Arms Control Kasia Mendelsohn speaks with Fairport High School leadership students.

While carrying out the nation’s most critical national nuclear security missions, NNSA seeks to foster a passion for the missions in future generations in a variety of ways. Students from Fairport High School near Rochester, New York, met with Kasia Mendelsohn, NNSA’s Assistant Deputy Administrator for Nonproliferation and Arms Control, to learn more about nonproliferation and leadership through the prism of nuclear policy decisions. The high school students posed questions about nonproliferation policy and global challenges that Mendelsohn answered based on her experience as a nuclear nonproliferation subject matter expert. The session allowed the students to interact with a high-level federal principal in national security, think critically about topics they had studied, and consider their future studies and career paths.
