Data and Information Systems

Welcome to BOEM’s new and improved Environmental Studies Program Information System (ESPIS), which presents information about ongoing and completed BOEM ESP studies. The new search tool allows text and map-based queries to find relevant study information. Study information includes downloadable electronic documents of study profiles, technical summaries, and final reports, and links to associated publications and digital data. The ESPIS search tool is hosted on a shared platform with MarineCadastre.gov, which is developed in partnership with the NOAA Office for Coastal Management. The old ESPIS search tool will remain available at the BOEM Data Center, during a transition period.

MarineCadastre.gov is an integrated marine information system that provides authoritative, up-to-date data, tools, and technical support for ocean and Great Lakes planning. MarineCadastre.gov was created to comply with Section 388 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 but is also providing the geospatial framework needed for the broader marine spatial planning initiative called for in President Obama’s National Ocean Policy. MarineCadastre.gov has three primary focus areas: Web map viewers and decision-support tools, a spatial data registry, and technical support and regional capacity-building.
