Discover the history of the Potawatomi Chief buried at Peninsula State Park, then create a talking stick in the Native American tradition. Select materials that you find meaningful. A cedar branch, for example, symbolizes cleansing, while white pine represents peace. Ribbons, feathers and ties have meanings, too. For example, orange is for feeling kinship with all living things. All materials provided. Optional on-your-own hike to Chief Kahquados' burial site follow program.
Considered Wisconsin's most complete park, Peninsula offers 468 campsites, three group camps, a summer theater, an 18-hole golf course, sand beach, bike trails, a lighthouse and eight miles of Door County shoreline. The rollicking waves that skip towards Peninsula's sky high bluffs are part of the Niagara Escarpment.

Drop by the Nature Center anytime from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to try New Year's Eve traditions. Can a potato predict your financial future? Will banging a loaf of bread on a door chase away bad luck? Does eating a dozen grapes guarantee good fortune? Toast a pudgy pie cheese sandwich over a crackling fire, too. While supplies last.
